I learned Brad Westlund’s tragic motorcycle accident soon after I came back to Japan in 1969. I was very sad to lose such a good friend so quickly. Mr and Mrs Westlund were good to me. So was his brother Jon whom I wrote to after the horrible news. I can still recall the days with him as if they were yesterday.
Slight correction.... there was no motorcycle involved.
Brad died driving Quin Bergman's '57 Bel-Air. Brad had his brother's Mustang and Quin brought the Bel-Air. The two swapped cars when tragedy took over. Was riding shotgun with Brad when the Bel-Air rolled, flipped, and eventually struck a power pole.
Talked with Jon just a few years ago, and from his conversation, I'm not certain how much the family knew. Much of the info he had was incorrect.
I knew Brad and pat when we were in boy scouts and heard about Brad car accident. Brad had a lot of energy and was always doing some thing that would always make you laugh. We will and have alway miss him . Rest in peace. You were taken away from us too soon.
